Support Groups and Trainings For Parents/Carers

(Please note, FEAST is not able to evaluate the philosophical approach or quality of the groups below. Some support groups may be facilitated by or have an atmosphere that is based on a older models that distance or blame parents. F.E.A.S.T. advises parents to research in advance and to seek optimistic, science-based support environments that help parents be engaged and assertive.)

Mothers to Mothers Mentoring
Reaching Out Against Eating Disorders (ROAED), a not-for-profit eating disorder organization serving the NY metropolitan area, is "reaching out " to parents of children of any age who are suffering from an eating disorder to provide them with a mentor to help them through this difficult time. Our Mothers to Mothers Mentoring Program is specifically for mothers of children who are suffering . Mothers who have a child with an eating disorder are given the opportunity to be supported by a mother who has gone through a similar experience and who can provide insight and guidance. Communication is mostly by phone and therefore participants do not have to be in the New York metropolitan area. We welcome as volunteers mothers whose children have recovered. Please call 212-935-2015. and visit our website ?
