Minnesota Hope Network Parent Support Groups Class for people who care about someone with an eating disorder. Using a Group Coaching model designed to educate about eating disorders, the class will help participants to: navigate the system including health insurance issues, access resources, learn valuable skills for improving your own self-care during this crisis and build connections with other families to share support with one another. The main goal is to help you to let go of fear and panic and reclaim peace and hope. The class is available in person in Minneapolis, MN, as a teleseminar or webinar. New York Mothers to Mothers Mentoring Reaching Out Against Eating Disorders (ROAED), a not-for-profit eating disorder organization serving the NY metropolitan area, is "reaching out " to parents of children of any age who are suffering from an eating disorder to provide them with a mentor to help them through this difficult time. Our Mothers to Mothers Mentoring Program is specifically for mothers of children who are suffering . Mothers who have a child with an eating disorder are given the opportunity to be supported by a mother who has gone through a similar experience and who can provide insight and guidance. Communication is mostly by phone and therefore participants do not have to be in the New York metropolitan area. We welcome as volunteers mothers whose children have recovered. New York New York Group for Parents who have an Adolescent with an Eating Disorder. A Maudsley Focused Group The parent group uses principles from the Maudsley treatment?a family based intervention that empowers parents to take charge of refeeding their eating disordered adolescent. The parent group focuses on psychoeducation regarding eating disorders; it coaches parents in refeeding strategies; teaches relaxation exercises for themselves and their adolescents; teaches problem solving techniques; and provides emotional and strategic support for parents as they learn how to effectively manage this very difficult process.
