The initial goals of eating disorder treatment is to stabilize health and behaviors, then repairing the medical and cognitive damage and building skills to prevent relapse.

One tool for treatment providers and families to use to prevent relapse is contracts. These documents are individualized by patient to establish goals, measures, and resources as the patient moves forward toward independence. Contracts can be a tool for all parties involved, offering structure and safeguards to keep recovery on track.

F.E.A.S.T. Advisor, Dr. Stephanie Milstein, has provided a template for just such a contract for teams and families to adapt to individual situations.
